Adaptive Radar Detection and Bearing Estimation in the Presence of Unknown Mutual Coupling

This paper deals with joint adaptive radar detection and target bearing estimation in the presence of mutual coupling among array elements. First all, a suitable model signal received by multichannel is developed via linearization procedure Uniform Linear Array (ULA) manifold around nominal looking direction together use symmetric Toeplitz structured matrices to represent effects. Hence, Generalized Likelihood Ratio Test (GLRT) detector evaluated under assumption homogeneous environment. Its computation leverages specific Minorization-Maximization (MM) framework, proven convergence properties, optimize concentrated likelihood function hypothesis. Besides, when number active coefficients unknown, Multifamily (MFLRT) approach invoked. During analysis phase, performance new detectors compared benchmarks as well counterparts available open literature which neglect phenomenon. The results indicate that it necessary consider judiciously effect since design guarantee levels close benchmark.
